Karen Voin is Vice President, Group Benefits and Anti- Fraud at the Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association (CLHIA). Karen is responsible for overseeing and advocating for the industry's extensive interests related to health and disability insurance, and the industry’s anti-fraud strategy. Karen joined CLHIA in 2011. Prior to joining CLHIA, Karen worked in various life and health insurance organizations in a leadership capacity.
Dr. Syed Y. Haider
Senior consultant orthopaedic surgeon
Dr. Syed Haider is a senior orthopaedic consultant surgeon at Markham Stouffville Hospital.
He is an expert in treating sports injuries and osteoarthritis especially in younger and more active individuals using cutting edge techniques. He is one of the leading surgeons & scientist in the field of regenerative orthopaedics and joint preservation. He has a special interest in PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma), stem cell therapies & biocartilage transplant for osteoarthritis and sports injuries.
He has successfully treated hundreds of patients, therefore avoiding major surgeries and helping them lead an active life style.
He holds the fellowships at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada & the United Kingdom.
He has served in many leadership roles including chief of orthopaedics at Grenfell Regional Health Services and vice chair of Canadian orthopaedics overseas. He has served on the board of Canadian Healthcare international and DNA healthcare in Dubai. He is a visiting professor at several international medical institutions.
In addition to being involved in cutting edge science of cartilage regeneration & preservation he is a teacher and a trainer of procedures like Oxford knee and biocartilage implantation. In addition, being a surgeon and a scientist, Dr. Haider is a humanitarian, who was the team leader for Canada’s earthquake relief missions during the devastating earthquake in 2006 in South Asia. He is one of the founders & a board member of Karbala Hospital in Southern Iraq and has led several other international medical missions.
Tim Clarke founded tc Health Consulting in April 2017 with a focus on helping organizations better understand and connect to the Canadian employer benefits market.
Drawing on over 20 years of experience as a consulting actuary in the Canadian employer health field, Tim works with all industry stakeholders to help bring unique and leading edge solutions to the market. This includes assisting health innovators to design, build, target and deliver solutions to maximize their success in the private healthcare ecosystem. Tim also works with employers to design programs that utilize both established and innovative approaches to maximize value for both their employees and the company bottom line.
Prior to starting tc Health Consulting, Tim spent over 20 years with a major international HR consulting firm in Toronto, Chicago and Vancouver, with a focus on employee and retiree benefits. Through his roles as Health Management National Practice Leader and, most recently, Health Chief Innovation Officer, he worked with clients and industry thought leaders across Canada on the strategy, design, financing and delivery of employer health, wellness and benefits programs.
Tim is a regular speaker at industry events, holds a Bachelor of Mathematics in Actuarial Science and Economics from the University of Waterloo, is a licensed life insurance agent, a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries.
Chief Technology Officer
In his role as Chief Technology Officer for WorldCare International, Inc., Mr. Clark is responsible for all technology strategy and IT operations as well as overseeing all development and implementation of software and systems. In addition, he oversees WorldCare’s security and privacy compliance
throughout the entire organization.
Mr. Clark has over 27 years of technology and business experience including software, hardware, e-commerce, operations, sales, marketing, consulting, printing and records management. He also provides IT strategy and support for FerruMax Pharmaceutical.
Prior to joining WorldCare, Mr. Clark held a number of senior technology roles across a variety of industries including printing and marketing services, managed services, datacenter and web hosting, management consulting and meteorology. He helped develop and lead the launch of one of the leading marketing services platforms, as well as online portals and ordering systems supporting numerous hospitals, financial services companies and legal fi rms. He has also developed the first weather areas on many of the major online services, websites and for news services and top newspapers.
Mr. Clark received a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology from the University of Lowell.
